EastBay begins with the story of a family - the family of James Emanuel Poston, a civic leader and local businessman who acquired the northeast Florida property where the first EastBay post office had been located. Recognizing the unique beauty of the area, James expanded his family homestead by purchasing adjoining land in the early 1940s.
Reflecting the strong ties of the Poston's, EastBay was a gathering place for family and friends, who shared the love of the land and the bay. At the heart of life in EastBay was the water, including boating - for both transportation and recreation - and fishing. In fact, an abundance of fish, oysters, scallops and shrimp had long ago served as the staple of early settlers' diets.
When James E. Poston envisioned the future of EastBay, he looked ahead to a waterfront town built around the love of the outdoors, respect for the land and a sense of community. Today, his sons are helping to bring that vision to life.
