EastBay's dedication to the environment is unprecedented. Our promise to provide a sustainable choice for living that will help leave nature's legacy intact for generations to come is reflected in the establishment of The EastBay Institute, our own internal force for education, cultural events and wildlife conservation.
This non-profit community organization will present programs, events and performances for the town's residents and visitors, and will work with local organizations to enhance the area's cultural life.
The EastBay Institute will also establish important initiatives for building science, nature and the environment. The goal is to become a nationally recognized center for programming that encourages both government and private industry to create communities that are healthy, efficient and attractive.
To this end, we have established a Performance Standard for our community that promotes the use of the most up-to-date building science methods to produce Environment-specific Buildings that are energy-efficient, healthy and sustainable. These buildings will perform well in northwest Florida's climate based on the official guidelines of:
- The U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environment Design (LEED) Rating System
- Florida Green Building Coalition
- Building America - U.S. Department of Energy
- Florida Solar Energy Center
Our commitment to the future is unprecedented...and The EastBay Institute will grow to become a source of pride both residents and generations to come.
